Join us on August 18th for the next Regulatory Roundtable event: "Exploring PEO’s New Policy Development and Engagement Model: Insights for Regulators"
Have you been doing policy development and engagement the same way year over year? Are you looking for ideas and inspiration to review and maybe modify your policy practices?Â
Â
Breaking from more than 100 years of tradition, Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) established and implemented a new, collaborative approach to developing sound regulatory policy. It was put to a critical test when creating a redeveloped version of the engineer intern program under a short timeframe.Â
Â
In this session, panelists will share and explore how PEO’s new, rigorous approach to policymaking works in practice. Areas of discussion may include: Â
How PEO replaced a longstanding approach to policy development that was heavily reliant on committees run by volunteers and limited in its interaction with concerned stakeholders, with one that incorporates a proper evaluation of risk with regular and purposeful engagement with system partners, licence holders, and the public throughout the policymaking process. Â
How the new policy development framework aligns PEO’s regulatory approach with the principles of proportionate, evidence-based, participatory, transparent, and accountable regulation.Â
Â
Presenters are:Â
Dan Abrahams, Vice-President, Policy & Governance & Chief Legal Officer, Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)Â
Marina Solakhyan, Senior Director, Governance, Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)Â
Â
This event is free to all CNAR members and $50 for non-members. Â
