Canada's First Female Astronaut & The World’s First Neurologist in Space
Dr. Roberta Bondar is globally recognized for her pioneering contributions to space medicine research, fine art photography and environment education. Aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery mission STS-42 in 1992, Dr. Bondar conducted experiments for 18 countries in the first International Microgravity Laboratory, a precursor to the International Space Station. For over a decade after her spaceflight, Dr. Bondar headed an international research team working with NASA on neurological symptoms seen after spaceflight, and their connections to neurological diseases on Earth. How can and do regulators regulate in a trauma-informed way? In this interactive workshop, attendees will learn about and critically examine what it means and looks like to use trauma-informed, human-centered approaches in professional regulation.
| Take a deep dive into trauma-informed practices in professional regulation. Attendees will be equipped with knowledge, skills, and tools to apply and enhance trauma-informed practice in their work. While certain content will be framed in relation to particular regulatory functions, it will be possible for attendees to extrapolate insights to apply to other regulatory areas. |
